The Committee on Government Operations and the Environment and the George Washington University Office of Sustainability are proud to announce the first-ever "2009 Policy Greenhouse," to be held on the morning of July 10, 2009.
Seeking High-Impact Environmental Solutions
The event, hosted on the GW campus, will feature 10 presenters, who will each offer five-minute, verbal pitches on high-impact environmental solutions for the District.
The primary criteria for the pitches are that the level of environmental impact and the level of innovation. We are not looking for quick fixes; we are looking for bold, practical environmental solutions for the District.
Examples of pitch ideas include:
* road use pricing;
* vertical farming;
* expanded retro-commissioning;
* carbon neutrality for public buildings; or
* promoting "Cool Cars".
About the Event
The event is open to the public and we expect a diverse crowd of attendees, including policymakers, citizens interested in environmental issues, "green" professionals, members of business and industry, academics, and others.
The Policy Greenhouse will be liveblogged at Greater Greater Washington, a blog "devoted to improving the vitality of Washington, DC and the walkable cities and neighborhoods in the Washington metropolitan area." The event wil also be webcasted and available on cable television, subject to availability.
