I want to live resourcefully and support the general ecosystem's interconnection, from the insects to the trees and us.
I've been so happy since losing a job one year ago and (building, digging, and sleeping more) lived the realization that work isn't a job. Work is only intentional action. There's so much work to do. Jobs are dreadful, sure, but the good work can be a party, why not?! I wish more people had space to feel this and I am focused on the class and economic system design that isolates, segments us -harming our communities and psyche.

Thanks for the 411 on the Casey Trees jobs.
Casey Trees has 200 fruit trees to find homes for. We're looking for a community that will accept them as an urban orchard project. See http://www.phillyorchards.org/. It would be great if in your boulevardiering you could identify not just the open space but the residents who would care for and benefit from the trees.
We meet WEEKLY due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - Tuesdays 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street NW, WDC 20001. We've been following a schedule something like this:
1st week - Food & Farming
2nd week - Transition
3rd week - Film
4th week - Planning & Networking
5th week when there's one - Special guest
but any can be trumped by urgent matters arising. For example, we are already thinking of devoting the first or second meeting in 2009 to building the infrastructure for an alternative local economy based on time banks and/or local currency.
Our final meeting for this year will be on Tuesday Dec 23, 6 pm at The Potter's House to celebrate our time together and resolve to accomplish even more in the New Year. Come by and meet the folks.
