Historic McMillan Park is threatened with senseless development if concerned activists do nothing to prevent it. A permaculture solution is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

Perhaps we can start by listing neighborhoods we frequent or can travel with easiness? That way we can figure out an overlapping area that works for everybody to plot an attack? I use 90/92 and X2 a lot, so I can visit U Street Corridor, Adams Morg…

My 30 gal. community tank occasionally provides a dead fish for the flowers in front, and when I clean it out I get so much extra weed, it goes in the mulch. That's all I've done. My mother used to raise watercress in the spring on her farm. Aquaculture is best if you have a spring or safe source of water. Or a trout stream, like at Cave River Valley in Indiana.
I could tell you some fish stories about that.

Hi Riley, thanks for joining us. Feel free to customize your page, post questions, thoughts, articles, photos, videos, add cool apps, make friends, message privately, join or create groups.

We look forward to your participation in anchoring our vision with your energy and skills as we seek to live more sustainably and equitably. We plan a wide range of programs and your input will be welcome.

Change has come to DC but whatever Obama accomplishes will be too little too late, (no fault of his, his hands are tied). It is anchored in the old paradigm and as Einstein observed, problems cannot be solved at the same level at which they were created. Most folks may just be getting the economic collapse because it affects them in their pocket but they have not yet got peak oil. We need all hands on deck to alert them.

We meet WEEKLY due to the enormity of the challenges and the urgency needed to address the issues that face us - Tuesdays 7 pm at Emergence Community Arts Collective, 733 Euclid Street NW, WDC 20001. We've been following a schedule something like this:
1st week - Food & Farming
2nd week - Transition
3rd week - Film
4th week - Planning & Networking
5th week when there's one - Special guest
but any can be trumped by urgent matters arising. For example, we devoted the first meeting in 2009 to building the infrastructure for an alternative local economy based on time banks and/or local currency, such as Anacostia Hours in circulation in Mount Rainier.
